Home to strong scientific heritage

A town rich in industrial history, Macclesfield is just one of the four areas covered by the Macclesfield Pledge, the others being the towns of Knutsford, Wilmslow and Poynton. The area boasts strong scientific heritage hosting the UK’s largest single-site life science campus offering state-of-the-art laboratory and office space for life science and digital tech companies.

The Macclesfield Pledge Area, 10 of the mainstream high schools and their sixth forms plus the local college, Macclesfield College are engaged. We also support two special schools and two independent schools. We also work with over 100 employers engaged within the patch.

How we work

The Pledge Partnership team supports employers and educators to work together to help inspire young people to make well-informed choices about the subjects they choose to study and the careers they want to follow and are equipped to be successful in the labour market.

The Pledge Facilitator connects local employers to schools/colleges to inspire young people about career opportunities within their area. By working with both employers and education providers, they help ensure students are equipped with the skills required to be successful in the local labour market and help them to capitalise on opportunities within our employer’s core offer.
